ALEC Department Welcomes Steven Gass as New Part-Time Lecturer

Posted on Sep 13, 2024Share on

    Steven Gass

Steven Gass has become the newest member of the Agricultural, Education, Leadership, and Communication (ALEC) Department. Gass will be filling the role of a part-time lecturer to observe job-embedded educators and student teachers.

Gass brings over 37 years of agricultural education experiences as an instructor, FFA Youth Consultant, State Agricultural Program Manager, and State FFA Advisor and has provided leadership and professional development training for teachers in the state and across the nation. He was instrumental in redesigning a new teacher training programming which increased the retention rate of early career teachers.

“Helping student teachers and new teachers establish a life-long career to educate our future agriculturalist and leaders is a tremendous responsibility that I have always taken very seriously,” said Gass.

Gass received an Associate of Science Degree in Agricultural Business from Walters State Community College. He received his B.S. Degree in Agriculture Education and M.S. in Agriculture and Extension Education at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

He resides in Murfreesboro with his wife of 32 years, Patty. Together they have three children and four grandchildren. He enjoys making hot sauces and all things agricultural mechanics.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Gass to the ALEC team!
